Are you awake? Calling for stories

The fantastic 21st century; most often referred to as “the globalization era” has been surrounded by strong, motivated, tenacious, and dream-seeking spirits; this has led to entrepreneurship. There have been well-known people who have made contributions to this developing world. However, there are still those who have not yet discovered their abilities, potentials, or God-given talent. On the other hand, there are many who know their gifts and are eager to conquer the world and embrace their passion. It is our responsibility as the young people of this world to achieve our goals and dreams, by seeking opportunities, responsibilities, position and power for the good of all. Frankly, it may be hard to get there; it takes time, there will be challenges and obstacles along the way, and if we’re going to make it through we have to work hard.

If a stranger were to bump into me and ask the question “who is an Entrepreneur”? I would simply say a business man or woman who owns/runs a business. According to the English dictionary: an Entrepreneur “is an enterprising individual who builds capital through risk and/or initiatives” Actually the word was a loanword from a French word and it first appeared in the French dictionary ” Dictionnaire Universal de Commerce” which was first published in 1723. However, over years, people have been defining the term in certain ways; chronologically;-
In 1725 an Irish- French economist,Richard Cantillon; “An Entrepreneur is a person who pays a certain price for a product to resell it on uncertain price, thereby making decisions about obtaining and using the resources while consequently admitting the risk of the enterprise”
In 1934, Schumpter: “Entrepreneurs are innovators who use a process of shattering the status quo of the existing products and services to set up new products and services”
In 1961, Davis McClleland: “An Entrepreneur is a person with a high need for achievement, and who is energic and a moderate risk taker”
In 1964, Peter Drucker: “An Entrepreneur is a person who searches for change, responds to it, and exploits opportunities. Innovation is a specific tool for an Entrepreneur hence an effective one, converts “a source to a resource”
These terminologies’ explain an Entrepreneur as a person who is fully engaged, and willing to help launch a new venture meaning that he or she can be fully responsible for the outcome of said venture

Today, young people, specifically from my country, Tanzania, have been pulling themselves out of their comfort zones to face challenges, to take the risks, and notably learn their weaknesses. There are so many motivating stories out there; indeed, stories that have not yet been told. Furthermore, these are stories of success, stories of courage, but they are also stories of disappointment both in the academic and business world

Darecha, as a nonprofit organization, has tried, and is still working to reach out to the young-talented Tanzanians.

Admirably, Darecha with its “Business Idea Contest” spreads the knowledge and pushes the transformation of youth from a state of fear, dark-blinded, and despair to a state of self-aw

ass, full-engagement, and hope for success. I believe that it is only when program such as Darecha and others reach out to encourage the development of the young people that we have the potential to thrive. Tanzania cannot compete in the business world if it is lacking open-minded, optimistic, and competent people.

So, are you awake? Do you have a story yet or still looking for one? It is never too late to be on the peak. Of course, thanks to technology, it keeps on making the World-a- village-Globalization. “Do not wait for an opportunity, but make it”
